the EDIT: Denim Jumpsuits

I know what you’re thinking, it’s in the 80s in most places in the country, however I recently saw this picture of Kia Gerber below looking ’70s Jane Birkin chic in this Boyish denim jumpsuit and I had to do a round up of my favorites.

I love a denim jumpsuit! I have a Levi’s one I live in all year round. It’s such a versatile piece. Wear it with casual sandals in the summer, for winter pair with your favorite chunky boot, throw on some heels and a leather jacket (unbutton some buttons perhaps?) for an edgy date night look. The outfit possibilities are endless.

Here are some faves!

the dad pant EDIT

The Dad pant is one of this seasons hottest trends and I found the only pair you’ll need by Mango for $59.99. If you’re looking for options to bridge the gap between wearing jeans again and your quarantine sweatpants, I suggest going for a crisp cotton pleated trouser to freshen things up! In all my years of styling I never thought I would be recommending a khaki colored pleated trouser to any man or women, but here we are. This Mango pair is fitted at the waist and wide through the leg making them incredibly comfortable. I guess Dads were on to something this entire time. If you’re not totally sold on introducing a new pant style to your wardrobe, think of these as fancy sweatpants and wear them with a sweatshirt and sneakers. But I promise the first patio hang out you receive you’ll be happy to have these pants in your arsenal.

Three ways to style them below!

Inspired by the first image, opt for a cool crop top and flat like this one by Significant Other! And can we talk about this bag it’s perfection. It comes with two straps, one shoulder and one crossbody so you can wear it two ways.

Zara Sandals

This H&M tank is $18 and looks super luxe paired with this Loeffler Randall tote and braided sandal.

Kendall can do no wrong when is comes to style lately. I can’t always pull off her midriff baring and leggy ensembles but this look I will definitely be recreating!

the denim short EDIT

I’m very over seeing Gen Z’s / fringe millennials butt cheeks hang out in public. Praise be that denim diapers are out and knee-length denim shorts are in. Not only are they more comfortable and cooler, but also more hygienic. I don’t know about you, but as the weather warms I start to think about what girl’s bare derrière has grazed a bar stool or Uber seat ahead of mine and it weirds me out. So do us all a favor and retire the short shorts this season for an elevated bermuda style.

Is brown the new black?

Brown is big for spring, this earthy color is chic and grounding. I love this quirky top by BAUM UND PFERDGARTEN in a beautiful caramel hue with jeans and slides for an effortless jeans ensemble.

What’s even more effortless is the no makeup, makeup look. I just purchased the Westman Atelier Vital Foundation stick and not only does it live up to the hype, you feel like you should be working at Goop as a beauty editor every time you click open the magnetic top of it’s stunning packaging. The consistency is creamy, hydrating, and looks like you have nothing on your skin. I found a little goes a long way and perfectly covers redness, plus it’s made of all clean ingredients. It’s a luxury purchase for sure, but you’re worth it! (FYI the Sephora sale is starting in just a few days so add to cart!) I have also been loving this Kosas mascara and this Olio E Osso lip and cheek tint in French Melon. I purchased both after watching Gwyneth Paltrow use them in her latest skincare routine video with Vogue. I’m a sucker for all things goopy.

Things I’m loving for Spring!

spring shacket

Leave it to TopShop to make the perfect on-trend spring layering piece for $38. Pairs well with this H&M tweed shacket. Speaking of things on-trend, light wash 90s fit denim is becoming a staple everyone should have in their wardrobe. I love this Everlane pair, and the price point, if you don’t have this style in your arsenal yet.

I’m all about investing in a great shoe and few accessories once a season. They bring basic outfits to life. The Aeyde “Betty” flat have an elongated square toe you’re going to start to see everywhere this spring. You can pair these with tailored separates or denim for a polished casual look. The color and shape of this Mansur Gavriel bag is stunning. I love a green bag and pair it with outfits as if it were neutral. Finish any spring outfit with this Lizzie Fortunato gold bracelet and you’re set.

1 sale dress – 3 ways for spring

It may be March 1st, but it’s still 30 degrees outside. A versatile dress with sleeves is a great purchase for these transitional days of spring. I especially love this one by Alice & Olivia (currently 60% off) because it can be dressed up or down. It’s also super lightweight so it’s great for layering. Paired with a flat boot, sheer dot tight, and green wrap coat, this look can take you anywhere from Zoom meeting, dinner party, to a baby shower and beyond.

Zara Dot Tights $17!

Braving the bar scene again? Just throw on some sexy heels and a leather jacket to make the dress a touch spicier for a night out. Don’t forget the red lip for extra spicy-ness.

Lucky enough to be heading south for Spring Break? Bring this dress and channel that lady who lunches with these amazing rectangle sunnies by Le Specs. Untie the bow for a more relaxed beachy vibe.

And there ya have it. One killer sale dress, three ways to wear it!

shearling for spring?

Spring can be an unpredictable time weather-wise here in Chicago. In my seven years of living here it’s never not snowed in April. So yes, shearling for spring people. It’s a thing.

On the bright side of having no sun for the foreseeable future, there are major sales on sweaters and jackets you’ll wear now and for the next three months. It’s our duty as Midwesterners to take advantage of these deep discounts. Why not start with this cashmere sweater and shearling jacket.

Oh, and booties, remember those? Remember when we wore cute heeled booties and raw denim to go to the grocery store? It honestly seems absurd now. However, I do believe the day will come again when we will want to wear heeled booties to elongate our pasty white winter legs in spring dresses, and this Mango pair is perfect for the job.

And now you know..
